S-212 Wildland Fire Chainsaws - Initial Attack Faller

This two module program has been developed to instruct firefighters in the nationally accepted safety standards, maintenance and use of chain saws and their tactical application on the fireline. Initial Attack Faller is the second module of wildland fire chainsaw use and will cover falling trees up to 8? diameter. Participants accepted into this course must have completed Module 1 ? Initial Attack Sawyer, plus one full year of experience, and be referred by their department training officer or chief. In this second module we will refresh basic sawyer skills ? proper PPE, safety standards of operation, field maintenance/tuning/and troubleshooting, brushing, limbing, and bucking for fireline construction and mopup operations. The remainder of the program will focus on falling operations, qualifying sawyers to properly and safely mitigate hazard tree situations on the fireline. Participants will receive an NWCG certification after successful field evaluation and completion of the final exam.

Completion of pre-course reading material and full wildland PPE are required for this program. Lunch and refreshments provided.
